Reach for the Stars Tutoring is contracted with many school districts throughout Long Island to provide home instruction services for eligible students who are temporarily unable to attend school.
Home instruction services are initiated and authorized by the student’s school district when a child is determined to be in need. Once a placement is referred to us, we work closely with the district to identify an appropriately qualified instructor and begin providing personalized academic support.
Our goal is to help students remain connected to their school curriculum, continue making academic progress, and receive dependable instruction during a challenging or unexpected absence from the classroom.
How Home Instruction Services Begin
Parents and guardians do not arrange school district home instruction directly through Reach for the Stars Tutoring. Eligibility, approval, instructional hours, subjects, and service requirements are determined by the student’s school district.
The process generally includes:
- The school district determining that a student qualifies for home instruction
- The district authorizing the subjects and number of instructional hours
- The district referring the student to an approved home instruction provider
- Reach for the Stars Tutoring reviewing the placement and instructor requirements
- An appropriately qualified instructor being matched with the student
- Services beginning in accordance with district authorization and procedures
