Reach For The Stars Tutoring

In accordance with New York State Education Law § 2-d, parents and guardians of students receiving services from Reach For The Stars Tutoring have the following rights regarding the privacy and security of their child’s student data:

Right to Inspect and Review Student Data:

Parents or guardians may request to inspect and review all personally identifiable information (PII) that we collect, maintain, or use in providing tutoring services.

Protection of Student Data:

We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect student data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. This includes:

• Secure storage and encrypted communications
   
• Role-based access for tutors and staff
   
• Ongoing training for employees on confidentiality and data privacy
   

No Sale of Student Data:

Reach For The Stars Tutoring does not sell, lease, or trade student data for commercial purposes.

Use of Data:

Student data is only used for educational purposes and to provide tutoring services. It is not used for marketing or advertising.

Third-Party Sharing:

We only share student data with:

• Authorized tutors and staff providing services
   
• Schools or districts, under contractual obligations
   
• Service providers that support our operations (e.g., payment processors, scheduling systems) under strict confidentiality agreements
   
• When required by law
   

All third parties must comply with NYSED data privacy and security requirements.

Data Retention:

Student data is retained only as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected, or as required by law. Once no longer needed, data is securely destroyed.

Right to Correct or Delete Information:

Parents and guardians have the right to request corrections to inaccurate student data. Requests for deletion will be honored in compliance with applicable laws and contractual obligations.
